About Us

The Interregional Public Association for the Promotion of the Activity of Patent Attorneys “Chamber of Patent Attorneys” is Russia’s largest patent attorney organization uniting about 250 patent lawyers from more than 20 regions of Russia.

The Chamber of Patent Attorneys boasts extensive experience in the development of legal counseling and protection of intellectual property it inherited from its predecessor – the Russian Patent Attorney Association.  In continuation of the traditions of the Russian Patent Attorney Association,  the Chamber of Patent Attorneys holds annual conferences and workshops on issues of professional concern and organizes a large number of other events, including patent expertise seminars with the participation of the World Intellectual Property Organization, refresher courses on forensic inquiry in cooperation with the Federal Forensic Analysis Center of the Russian Ministry of Justice, patent research schools and other events of similar relevance.

With a view to promote the institute of patent lawyers and improve patent services in Russia, the Chamber of Patent Attorneys has established and is maintaining effective cooperation with the “Rospatent” Federal Service for Intellectual Property, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, and other state-run and public organizations.

As part of international projects the Chamber of Patent Attorneys holds regular meetings with representatives of the European Patent Organization, the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys, foreign associations of patent attorneys, the World Intellectual Property Organization.

The Chamber of Patent Attorneys acts quickly to meet the demands of patent lawyers – it has set up a panel of experts for providing effective public control of the compliance of legal enforcement acts with the provisions of the current legislation, organized a forensic analysis course, devised the rules of financial interaction between patent lawyers and clients, maintains a register of forensic experts and an open register of practicing patent attorneys.

Our major purpose is to create a professional environment, ensure comfortable working conditions for Russian patent attorneys, and guarantee high-quality professional services in protecting intellectual property rights.

The Chamber of Patent Attorneys is set on creating a self-regulatory professional association of patent lawyers. One of its top priorities is to ensure a handover of power in managing the professional activity of patent attorneys from the state to the patent lawyer community to an extent and in such a volume where it would have a favorable effect on this community. In addition, the Chamber is developing a set of standards for the professional activity of patent lawyers and is working to upgrade their professional qualifications and ensure their responsibility for the quality of their work.
